Me-to-Me Transfers FAQ

What are Me2MeTransfers?
Me2Me transfers are an electronic method of transferring funds between Outlook accounts and those held at other Canadian financial institutions.

Who can use this service?
Any Outlook member who uses online banking can use Me2Me transfer. Those who are not yet signed up for online banking are encouraged to visit the Online Banking page or call the Member Communication Centre at 204.958.7333 (toll-free 1.877.958.7333).

Is Me2Me available for Assiniboine members?
Me2Me is currently for Outlook only. It is not available for Assiniboine members at this time.

Which accounts are eligible for Me2Me?
Any Canadian accounts can use Me2Me Transfers with the exception of TFSAs, RRSPs, RRIFs and any personal accounts that require two or more signatures to perform transactions.

Is sending funds by Me2Me Transfer secure?
Yes. Me2Me transfers offer the same level of security and confidentiality as other online banking transactions.

Can I transfer US dollars?
No. Me2Me can only be performed in Canadian funds, so even though you may have a US account at another Canadian financial institution, you cannot link it.

Can I transfer funds to my account outside of Canada?
No. Funds must be in Canadian dollars and must be deposited into a Canadian account.

Can I send funds even if my other financial institution doesn't offer Me2Me transfers?
Yes. Once you are set up with Outlook Financial, you can transfer to and from using Outlook's online banking at any time, regardless if the other financial institution subscribes to Me2Me.

Can I create recurring transfers through Me2Me?
Yes, this became effective as of January 26, 2017.

Is there a cost to send and receive Me2Me Transfers?
There is no additional cost. Transactions count as standard debit/credits to the member's account.

How much can I send with Me2Me Transfers?
The limits for Me2Me transfers are:
$50,000 per transaction
$250,000 per week
$500,000 per 30 days

Is there a minimum dollar amount required to send a Me2Me transfer?
No, there is no minimum amount.

How long does the setup process take?
Once the form and void cheque are received, the setup can take up to 5 business days. Once activated, accounts will automatically display as an option to transfer to/from in online banking.

How long does a transfer take?

  1. Immediate transfers:
    Funds are debited from your account(s) immediately, but the transfer may take several days to complete.
  2. Scheduled (future dated one time) and recurring transfers:
    If the scheduled/recurring transfer is a deposit to your account, the deposit will take place on the scheduled/recurring date, as early as 12:01 am. The corresponding withdrawal, may take several days to complete.

There will be a 10 day hold on deposits made to your account to allow time for the transfer to clear.
