Assiniboine Credit Union and Entegra Credit Union propose merger

 
In a move that will greatly benefit their respective members, employees and community, the Boards of Assiniboine Credit Union (Assiniboine) and Entegra Credit Union (Entegra) have announced their intention to come together through merger.

“We are excited about a partnership that supports a vibrant and healthy future for our credit union, for our employees, for our members, and for our communities” said Don Johal, Entegra’s Board Chair. Crystal Laborero, Assiniboine’s Board Chair added “we have many common values when it comes to members, people and community, this proposed merger between Assiniboine and Entegra will allow us to extend our shared purpose, to provide financial services for the benefit of all.”

An Amalgamation Agreement has been signed by both Boards of Directors and members will be asked to vote on the proposed merger. A virtual Special Members’ Meeting is scheduled for August 18, 2021.

With regard to the proposed merger Kevin Sitka, CEO of Assiniboine explains “we operate in an industry that is rapidly evolving with more demands every day from members who have come to expect personalized service and flawless 24-7 banking access from wherever they happen to be. We know that by bringing our teams and resources together we will be able to meet changing member needs better and faster, now and into the future.” Brent Turman, CEO of Entegra agrees “this proposed merger is all about our future success and getting stronger by coming together”.

Combined, the merged credit union will serve more than 141,000 members, employ 525 talented people, offer a branch network of 18 branches in Winnipeg, plus 1 in Thompson and 1 in Gillam and hold more than $6 billion in assets.
