Call for Nominations to the Assiniboine Credit Union Board

As a credit union member, you have the right to vote for your Board of Directors and nominate a member, including yourself, to run for election to the board. Outlook Financial's parent company, Assiniboine Credit Union's board is committed to strong, responsible and ethical governance of your credit union. Integral to this commitment is ensuring that the composition of the board has an effective and well-rounded mix of skills and experience in the following areas: finance, community development/social inclusion, human resources, co-operatives/credit unions, community involvement and management/leadership.

In addition to the mix of skills and experience noted above, the board wishes to be representative of the members and communities we serve. We strive for gender balance, ethnic and cultural diversity, and diversity of age and life stage.

A gap analysis of the current board, less those directors up for re-election, has been conducted and, in 2017, we are looking for strong, qualified candidates with the ideal skills and experience. Strong candidates who are: female, people of colour, and/or indigenous would be a particular asset to the board at this time.

At this time, the ACU Nominating Committee, a committee of the Board of ACU, is seeking interested and qualified candidates to run for three, 3-year term positions open for election in 2017. If you would like to submit a nomination for yourself or another eligible member, you must do so no later than 3pm on Friday, December 2, 2016. All nominations must be submitted in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Candidate's Guide which is available on our website or by contacting Jocelyn Peifer Ross, Director, Governance, Privacy and Corporate Affairs at 204-258-3424 or jpeiferross@assiniboine.mb.ca.

The Nominating Committee will review all nominations received, interview all eligible candidates and submit a recommendation on candidate endorsement to the Board of Directors for approval. Election packages will be mailed in March 2017 to members who are eligible to vote. Members will have the option to vote online or by mail. Candidates will have the opportunity to respond by email to member questions during the election period. Election results will be announced at the 2017 Annual Meeting, held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Canad Inns Polo Park, 1405 St. Matthews Avenue, Winnipeg. Election results will also be posted on our website and in our branches following the annual meeting.
